Yoga Classes, Bolton, Manchester

Pay-As-You-Go, £5.00/class

In the ancient language of Sanskrit the word yoga means ‘to unite' or 'join together’. Its aim is to bring balance and harmony to the body, mind and spirit. This can be achieved by perfecting the physical, emotional and mental aspects of health, that in turn lead to self development and awareness.

At Life-Balance-Fitness here in Bolton, along with our one-to-one classes across Manchester, Bury, Rochdale, Oldham and Blackburn, we practice Hatha Yoga, one of Yoga's six founding principles. Based on the 'energetic path' principle, it places particular emphasis on physical balancing.

Practising Yoga

Each yoga pose should be seen as a journey rather than a destination. Focus should be brought to the body, mind and spirit sustaining balance and energy. In order to fully benefit from practising yoga you should:

  • Attend classes regularly (to learn the correct poses)
  • Practice regularly and often (and with focused concentration)
  • Listen to your body
  • Enjoy it!

Remember:

Yoga should always be non-competitive and non-judgmental. After all, this is about your health, well-being, fitness and balance rather than someone else's.

The Benefits of Yoga

General benefits

Yoga helps to balance all of the body's systems, ensuring that it remains supple and strong. Yoga helps to relieve stress, and helps to prevent illness by balancing and harmonising the body both emotionally and physically. It also massages the internal organs.

Body-balance benefits

Regular yoga practice will improve physical co-ordination. Body symmetry can be restored by improving strength and flexibility.

Skeletal benefits

Yoga allows the spine to move freely in all directions. It corrects the posture and alignment.

Muscular benefits

If our muscles are tense they are usually short and tight, leading to restrictions in our range of movement. Yoga lengthens muscles with a slow stretch, leading to a reduction in pain and tension, whilst stimulating the circulation.

Nervous tension benefits

Regular yoga practice can help to reduce the symptoms of stress - such as elevated heart rate, muscular tension and anxiety.

Glands/ hormonal balance benefits

Yoga can help to regulate the production of hormones and cleanse the glands which can also help to regulate the metabolism.

Respiratory benefits

Certain yoga postures massage and strengthen the heart and help the bronchioles in the lungs retain their elasticity therefore increasing lung capacity.

Immune system benefits

Yoga stimulates the lymph glands helping body tissues to drain and increasing the body's ability to fight infection and disease.

Mind and body benefits

Yoga can help to concentrate the mind. It promotes calmness and inner strength and results in a feeling of increased well being.
